Unfortunately this means I don't have Artist photos and access to some of the smart music features as Plex is now using only my embedded tags due to the 'Personal Media Artists' setting but at least my music is now diplayed correctly. Again, in case anyone is thinking I'd messed up my tags in those remaining compilations that were still split, I was using 'Album Artist=Various' and 'Compilation=1' for all my compilations, and they display correctly in all other music software. This finally gave me the correct data in Plex, with the exception of maybe a dozen compilations that I had to manually merge - but at least the hundreds of other random albums that had previously failed came in correctly. I also ensured that Personal Media Assets was topmost in both the Artists and Albums sections of the Agents setting. Every time I did a complete wipe/rescan in Plex it was mangling different albums than the previous time.Įventually I had to scrap the idea of using Plex's 'smart' features and set up my libraries like this: I know some of you will assume my tags were wrong, but they aren't. I have a very large FLAC library (over 10,000 albums) so it was proving very annoying trying to locate the problems and manually merge etc. Plex mangled hundreds of my albums, splitting them into multiple albums, missing artwork, not reading the year tag. I'm a complete OCD freak when it comes to my tagging, and on the odd occasion I make a mistake, the above software immediately makes it apparent and I fix it accordingly. My tags are 100% consistent and everything displays correctly in all my other software/hardware such as foobar2000, Logitech Media Server, Sonos, Bluesound etc. Yeah, I spent weeks trying to resolve this in Plex. My ramblings below were about seeing some tracks in one album entry and the remaining tracks in the other entry - sorry!
